As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith.
But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:3-5
Paul begins his encouraging letter to Timothy with an admonition about the importance of teaching sound doctrine. What a great need we have for this admonition today! I weary at the devastation done to people because of bad teaching that is neither Biblical nor beneficial. Notice the goal, instruction born out of love from a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith.
Its time to check my motivations for ministry… God, am I operating from a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith?
Lord, as I serve You today, move in me, through me, and send me help. We are reaching out to love people in Jesus name. Please help me derive my motivation from a pure place that is in You and Your will.
