Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15
I enjoy a good book. In heaven, there are books. Apparently, there are books that record our deeds and also whether we belong to God and have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (book of life). For those whose name is written in the Lamb’s book of life, there will be no reading of the other books (except for rewards). I am so glad. For sure, my life is a mixed bag, with some good deeds, but there is also that part that is not flattering, even embarrassing, and shameful. God, in His grace has closed that book, because He has found my name in the most important book- of life. Whew! What a relief. What a joy inexpressible. What a good book.
When did I ask god to write my name in His book of life? How is the knowledge of salvation transforming me day by day into the image of Christ my Savior?
God, as this day begins- I look forward to so much. Help me prepare for tomorrow to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Make it possible to see my little grand-cuties… and hula hoop with Kennedy-bear. As, I reach out and love people in Your name, may You be pleased. There are some others I am praying for as well… You know them and their situations, would you meet their deepest needs with Your presence and power. And Lord, I pause to pray for our national and local leaders. May they rely on You for wisdom and strength today. You have all the answers.
