I have been preaching lately a series called “In My Head”… thinking about our thinking. This morning I read again the apostle Paul’s prescription for mental health. Its more than positive thinking, its a pathway to peace of mind. The proactive exercise is to place within my mind that which is consistent with God. When I do, I begin to become the person He wants me to be.

TrueWhat is real, factual, and consistent with God’s Word.Is this actually true?
Noble (Honorable)What deserves respect and lifts our thoughts above the trivial.Does this make me a better person?
Right (Just)What is morally right and fair according to God.Is this the right thing?
PureWhat is clean, holy, and free from moral corruption.Does this promote holiness?
LovelyWhat inspires love, kindness, beauty, and gratitude.Does this encourage love?
Admirable (Commendable)What has a good reputation and is worthy of praise.Would wise people approve of this?
ExcellentAnything displaying moral excellence or virtue.Is this the best rather than merely acceptable?
PraiseworthyWhat honors God and deserves thanksgiving.Does this make me praise God?

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9 NASB

What thoughts are inconsistent with God and ready to be replaced in my thinking?

God, as this day begins- It looks like another one of blessing. We have some application of truth, nobility, purity, etc. Being with the kids and grandkids makes the start of this day a pure delight. May our adventures on Kauai be amazing, safe, and memorable. I wonder if anyone is learning, receiving, hearing or seeing in me, what You desire?
