I heard someone say “I may not yet be the person that God wants me to be, but by the grace of God, I am not the person I was”. None of us have arrived! Right? Even the apostle Paul realized that he had not arrived. So, what did he determine to do? Press on! Press on toward what? He wanted to press on toward the very purpose for which God has called him. We should and can do the same. How? Remember to forget. Forget the past and strain toward what is ahead. Its gonna be so worth it!
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14 NASB
Is there anything or anyone holding me back or down from becoming who God wants me to be?
God, as this day begins- or continues (mid morning)… Maybe I am the only one standing in the way? Have Your way in me. I am committed to strive and strain, leave behind when necessary, and press on toward the goal. I want to win the prize You have for me. May I recognize each whom you have appointed to be part of this glorious journey. I am grateful for my lovely bride, close friends, immediate family, pastors and examples. I have not arrived. But, I am not going to be static.
