Life has struggles! Some might say life is a series of one struggle (physical, financial, emotional) after another. I think there is more. Life in Christ is love and joy in the Holy Spirit. But even life with a rich and abiding faith has struggles. Besides the natural struggles we face in the world, there are super-natural sources of struggle from the unseen world. The apostle Paul tried to help us understand that there exists rulers, authorities (principalities) and powers of a dark world. I don’t know much about that world, but I choose to put on the full armor provided by God and to stand firm!
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:12-13 NASB
What weakness and vulnerabilities do I have because I am missing armor of God?
God, as this day begins- Please help me to “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
