I love the Red Bull motto- “Red Bull Gives You Wiiiings”. It reminds me that the Spirit of God, when allowed control of my life and that of any believer, can “fly” (live as God intended) exhibiting the character of Christ and fulfilling His mission in the world. There is freedom when led by the indwelling Spirit, but there is bondage when striving to live according to the Law. While the Holy Law of God is glorious, it fails to transform, rather it only shows us our deficiency and inability. Far more glorious is the forgiven life afforded every believer which is empowered by the Spirit. The Law says “fly” and we “fall”. The Spirit says “fly” and gives us “wings”. Let’s live by the Spirit today.
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. How can I submit myself to the Spirit today? What laws and regulation tempt me to try and justify myself before God who has already imputed to me the righteousness of Christ?
God, as this day begins- I thank you for giving me favor yesterday as I seek to help my friend Ubong. Guard his life and interest and effect his release according to Your plan. Today, I give the Spirit control. Lead and guide me through the day. May I exhibit all the qualities of Spirit led life- the foremost being Love! As I lead the memorial service today for Lyle Wilkerson, I pray the family is comforted by the knowledge that he led his life well. Open hearts in our midst to the gospel as I share it.
