I have some wonderful things about me, and some weaknesses too. I imagine that’s true for everyone. God’s grace is hopefully evident in both. I really have nothing to boast or brag about. The great apostle Paul was the same. He pointed out that if he was going to boast about anything it would be his weakness. Why? Because its in our humanity and weakness that God’s grace abounds to the penitent sinner. Our weaknesses are common. Our strengths tend to be unique. So there is something unifying about confessing our true self before God and others.
And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NASB
What weaknesses has God addressed in my life? What work is He about right now? How can I give Him credit for the transforming work of His Spirit within me?
God, as this day begins- Its Sunday! A morning set aside to gather for worship. I pray for those in Corona at Crossroads, that each will connect in a deep way with You and others. As Maureen and I are here in Knoxville, I pray the same for us. Thank you that You see my weaknesses and bring about a strength through Your presence and redeeming love and power.
