Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. Matthew 10:1
The sending out of the disciples to do the healing and cleansing ministry of Jesus was amazing. Can you imagine their excitement, nervousness, and even fear? They had His authority and that was about it. It was sufficient. We, as followers of Christ, have the same authority and power available to us. When we pray, we are asking the creator of the universe to re-make a small part of His creation. Its not a ‘genie in a bottle’ relationship. Its seeking our Sovereign God who is able. In His Providence, we ask in faith, believing He can, and watching to see if He will. Personally, that creates in me excitement, nervousness and even fear (reverence). How about you? By the way, I have seen when God answers ‘Yes’ to healing in some extreme, life and death situations, both brain injuries.
How am I fulfilling the healing and cleansing ministry of Jesus in the world today? Do I even realize, as a disciple, I am invited to that adventure?
God, I am amazed at the scoffers who deny You do any miracles at all. I am a skeptic by training as a young person growing up in a materialistic mindset. Nevertheless, I have both faith and I have seen and experienced miracles of healing that are not explainable by science or medicine. Lord, I am available to You in this ministry. If you ask me to pray for the sick and diseased, I will, expecting miracles.
