I remember reading a book by the title “The Body Dynamic”. In it, pastor John MacArthur emphasized how God has made the members of the Church each unique in our interaction with each other. Each (just like body parts) are essential and to be valued so that we serve God in unity. There are three kinds of people in relation to understanding their role. One says, I am not gifted or qualified so I won’t participate. A second says, my gifts are better than others and more important, I don’t need anyone else. But, the third realizes God wants everyone to participate in the Church (body of Christ) and when we do, its amazing.
Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and various kinds of tongues. All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And yet, I am going to show you a far better way. 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 NASB
How do I participate in the life of the Church? Do I value all others and recognize their giftedness and value?
God, as this day begins- I am reminded that You are building Your Church with people of such different designs, passions, talents, and needs. How wonderful it is to be included and to interact with people so unique and different. May our expression of the church at Crossroads continually affirm and invite people to serve the cause of Christ together in unity.
