Where To Find Riches And Wisdom

richesSo King Solomon became greater than all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. All the earth was seeking the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom which God had put in his heart. They brought every man his gift, articles of silver and gold, garments, weapons, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year. 1 Kings 10:23-25

Solomon became a sort of ‘king of kings’. He was greater than all of them in both riches and wisdom. This was God’s doing. In these two ways Solomon is a type (forerunner) of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the King of Kings (Revelation 19:16). The apostle Paul wanted us to know that the riches of Christ (who is the heir of all things) was available to us. He wrote to the church in Ephesus “To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ” Ephesians 3:8. And finally, we are reminded as Christians that we have access to the same wisdom afforded Solomon. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16.

Am I taking advantage of the riches and wisdom available to me? Would others wait in line to hear what I have to say? Am I sharing the riches of Christ with those who haven’t heard?

Lord Jesus, all of this is found in You. I want to be an example of what it means to truly know You, for in You are all the riches and wisdom. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness.
