We have a lot of “sayings” or colloquialisms today that originate in the Bible. I was reading today about the time God was restoring the descendants of Abraham (Jews) to Jerusalem and Judea from their dispersion under Nebuchadnezzar. The prophet Zechariah described God’s affection as One who looks upon His people and they become the apple (iris) of His eye. What a beautiful picture that reminds us today that His eye is on the sparrow and He watches over you and I. May we walk with a humble confidence knowing the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob dwells in our hearts by the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit as He watches over our daily affairs.
“Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!” For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye— Zechariah 2:7-8 NASB
God, as this day begins- I thank you that Your protection, guidance, provision are all available through Your prevenient grace, love and affection. I hope what You see in me (as the apple of Your eye) is pleasing in every way. I pray I am a blessing to all I encounter today.
