Worship and fellowship are a priority in my life. If I demonstrate any leadership at all, I pray its spiritual leadership wherein I pursue and model a priority in these areas. At the moment, I thank God that my grown kids and their children have a reverence and love for God. I know and trust that their lives are blessed as a result. Truth be told, its probably my wife’s leadership that has the greater influence. But, I will take some credit, since we are a team.
After the children of Israel returned from the diaspora into Babylon, rebuilding the destroyed temple was not a priority above rebuilding their own homes. Little did they know that God was withholding blessings because their priorities were wrong. God brought droughts and caused crops to not produce in abundance. I have watched that when people have made God a priority, He amplifies their efforts beyond their expectation and ability for His glory. Its such a better way to live. It requires faith to say things like “our restaurant will be closed on Sundays”; “our family will miss the travel team game that is out of town”, or whatever conviction God leads you to. Don’t worry. God will not be a debtor to any man. Let’s make Him the priority for our own sake and that of the generations to come..
So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of armies, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king. Haggai 1:14-15 NASB
God, as this day begins- What a beautiful reminder that it seems You have nothing better to do than spend time with me. How marvelous, how humbling. Oh, You know what lies ahead for me today. Three very important hospital visits. May I be an encouragement to Anthony, and Tony and Mike and their families. And may the wedding ceremony tomorrow for Jeremy and Grace be filled with joy in expressible. And may the celebration of life ceremony tomorrow honor Mona as You comfort the family. Thank you for the energy to work within the kingdom of God and life of the church.
