Our Unique High Priest

For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life.
For it is attested of Him, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 7:15-17

Jesus is not better than anyone who ever lived, He is categorically different from anyone who has ever lived. Even as our high priest, Jesus is of completely different order than those known to God’s people. Those priests were decedents of Aaron and Levi. His priesthood lasts forever (for He ever lives to make intercession for us). How wonderful to know that this priest sacrificed once for all. That’s the point the author of Hebrews makes by comparing Jesus to a forerunner or type of Christ- Melchizedek, the king of Righteousness from the place of Peace.

How often do I come before my Priest and make sure I am right before God? Have I discovered its His righteousness imputed to me, that actually is salvation?

God, as this day begins, may it be productive, fruitful, filled with lovingkindness. Jesus, as my high Priest please draw me close and whisper words of affirmation and direction today. Bless my daughter in her new endeavor and classroom studies today. Thank for Kasey, may her birthday be very special.
