Leave It All On The Field

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 2:6-8

What should it be like when we finish this life? Paul says that he ‘left it all on the field’… meaning that he gave his all in service to God and His kingdom work. As a result, he anticipated a reward. I think I would like to finish that way. Instead of living at ease, self-centered, and inwardly focused, I want to make a difference every day in the lives of others and be part of building God’s kingdom. Then, I could say, I am ready and lived a life worthy of the grace of God afforded me in this life.

What is hindering me from giving my all? Is it a lack of faith, entanglements of the world, selfish desires?

God, today I commit again to live for Your great and noble purpose. Help me by the power of Your Spirit to do great things, to be sensitive and open to what is going on in other’s lives and love others in Jesus’ name. Thank you for life and breath and the energy You provide.
