Utter Frustration

There are very few times that I had seen my parents in utter frustration. I mean, so mad at my brothers or me- that they couldn’t even speak. One time, my dad caught me swearing on the walkie talkie radios. He looked at me and (out of character), just walked away silently. One time, he discovered the marijuana plants in the back yard and shook my brother by the shoulders muttering “what am I going to do with you”? I can only think of one time I felt this way- when I found an empty beer can in the back of the car of one of my kids. The reaction is a godly one. Its born out of love and the disappointment when our children are doing what will harm themselves or others. God, expressed His feelings through Zephaniah to the people in Judah.

“I will sweep away everything
    from the face of the earth,”
declares the Lord.
“I will sweep away both man and beast;
    I will sweep away the birds in the sky
    and the fish in the sea—
    and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble.” Zephaniah 1:2-3 NIV

Is there anything in my life would disappoint God so greatly?

God, as this day begins- I am grateful that ‘love is patient’. And You’ve been patient with me. Please bring to my attention all that is lacking in my obedience so that I might walk in a manner worthy of Your love.
