Some people grew up going to a church with a priest. The priest was in some ways a person closer to God and an ‘intermediator’ for them. For me, I was taught to come directly to the throne of grace in prayer and that seems to be working. I cannot approach God in His holiness without faith that God will accept me because of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. Jesus was predicted to come as both a priest and king. He was to fulfill the kingly line of David and to be a priest as well. The prophet Zechariah saw ahead of time the harmony in the two roles. Jesus is the creator and supreme judge of the world. Oh, what a God we serve, who in humility sent His own Son among us. In some ways, we who believe have become part of a royal priesthood of all believers. Let’s find the harmony in our great calling- reconciling the world to Him!
Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord. It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two. Zechariah 6:12-13 NIV
In what ways am I fulfilling my calling as one who serves before God daily? Who am I helping come into a personal relationship with the God who loves us?
God, as this day begins- I pray that I might fulfill Your purposes in the world today as both a pastor and attorney (advocate), moreover as a member of Your royal priesthood. I am behind in some projects. Would you supernaturally amplify my efforts toward success. Give me insight and wisdom. Go before me preparing a favorable way. Thank you for Your wonderful attention and affection. I bless You for my family and Keanu’s visit especially.
