I like to make my way through each day without too much drama. I don’t have high, highs and then low, lows. I laugh a bit. And in certain situations, I might cry. I am not overly expressive (I am after all of German descent). I am not stoic and I am quite passionate in spirit. You might not be able to always see it. God occupies my thinking and prayers, but not necessarily in every conversation. I expect Him to be present and to working in my life. I wonder how people do it without faith in God?
The prophet Zephaniah spoke out against the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the days of Josiah the king (600 BCE). He warned that their attentiveness to God was like the dregs (Dregs: the remnants of a liquid left in a container). Their spiritual life was like curdled milk. Our spiritual dullness produces in us the worst of injustice, idolatry and greed. For this God would bring His judgment upon His own people. How much more we must be fervent in love today.
And it will come about at that time
That I will search Jerusalem with lamps,
And I will punish the people
Who are stagnant in spirit,
Who say in their hearts,
‘The Lord will not do good nor harm!’ Zephaniah 1:12 NASB
God, as this day begins- I am considering You first and foremost. I am seeking Your will and Your way. Please lead and guide me. May Your great mercy mark my life and in response may I be ever passionate and vigilant to share Your love with all around me. Thank you again for the blessings. I see You in my life.
