Can a Faith Un-Tested, be Trusted?

I believe in God. I don’t mean just intellectually (I think the case for God is far stronger than the case for a world without God). But, when I say I believe in God, I mean I have faith in God. I TRUST HIM. I don’t always understand Him. But, my default position is that I will trust and obey because He has always proven Himself trustworthy. My faith has been tested and tried… perhaps not as severely as some. But, I now count my faith in God as precious as anything I possess. How about you?

This third I will put into the fire;
    I will refine them like silver
    and test them like gold.
They will call on my name
    and I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
    and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’” Zechariah 13:9 NIV

What purpose does God have in my trials and testing? What Christlike character qualities are lacking in me, that can only be developed in tests of faith?

God, as this day begins- I am praying for and along with people who are in the furnace of trials, Christian families in Mozambique whose loved one’s have been beheaded for their faith the last three days, for Patti’s recovery from cancer, Dina- whose husband has died, Pam’s brain tumor surgery ahead, Tim’s work or disability, Ruth- emotional health and alcohol recovery, and a handful of other circumstance with people I know and love. Thank You Lord Jesus, that You are aware and care and often meet our deepest needs in ways we could not foresee. And after these trials of faith- we can truly say we belong to You… and You belong to us (forever).
