Why People Cry In Church

cryAnd all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy. No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away. Ezra 3:11-13

I am sure it happens every weekend. People cry in church. Sometimes I find myself being overwhelmed by what God is doing in my life or when I consider His goodness. Ezra saw the people praising God with shouts of joy, while at the same moment others were overcome with emotion and wept. They were seeing with their own eyes, the fulfillment of God’s promise to restore His temple and people in Jerusalem.

Am I seeing the promises of God fulfilled? Or am I in another season… discipline, waiting, etc.?

Oh God to see Your promises fulfilled would bring tears to my eyes as well. There are desires and hopes I have. You are fulfilling so many within my family. Still some to go. Would you in this season give me reasons to cry in church as you fulfill Your promises and my hearts desires? Thank you Lord Jesus.
