What Happens After God Prunes Us

pruningThis will be the sign for you, Hezekiah:
This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that.
But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.
For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the king of Assyria:
He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here.
He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it.
By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city, declares the Lord.
I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.’” 2 Kings 19:29-34

What happens after God prunes us? Simply put, He restores us! Insert your name here: This will be the sign for you, _________ (Doug): This year you will… God would first provide the basic necessities for His people. The next year, it would be compound growth and the third a full harvest based on what they were able to sow and reap. All of this would be accomplished by Divine power motivated by the zeal of the Lord Almighty. Oh, how I desire this to occur all around me. Our church has experienced a great pruning. I want to be part of God helping people become rooted in their faith and bearing fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

How about me? How has God pruned my life from sin, selfishness, or pride? How deeply rooted am I in His Word and in obedience to His will? Am I ready to eat what grows by itself (literally, that which comes only from God and not my efforts?)

Lord, I am experiencing all of this and more. I have been anticipating Your mighty hand moving and providing. Its been painful in the pruning. Now express Your zeal and I will marvel and proclaim Your name.
