“Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4
In contrast to the comparative nature of the disciples who wanted to know who was the greatest, Jesus says its better to be humble. Humility and meekness are godly qualities that accompany greatness in God’s kindgdom. Why? Leadership is servanthood. My friend Steve used to say “meekness is not weakness, its God’s power under control”.
Am I always comparing myself to others? I hope not. Is humility something that is integral to who I am?
Lord Jesus, you are humble in spirit. Help me be the same.
