But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come about that those whom you let remain of them will become as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will trouble you in the land in which you live. And as I plan to do to them, so I will do to you. Numbers 33:55-56
When we come into a relationship with God and enter into ‘the promised land’, we must allow God to displace the habits, thoughts, and ways of our old life. If we do not, they will become trouble for us. The Israelites were instructed by Moses to go into the promised land and drive out the inhabitants. Those whom they left would become trouble to them. And indeed over time it happened that way.
Is there any areas of my old life (living according to my own desires, thoughts and ways) that still cause me trouble? Have I fully entered into this ‘promised land’ with God? What does the trouble in my life reveal about me?
God, what an invitation to know You and to walk in Your ways, experiencing the leading and guiding of Your Holy Spirit each day. I know that each day has troubles of its own. Please reveal to me if I have allowed any trouble from my unrepentant past. Do miracles in me, around me and through me today, for Your glory.
