Now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are truth, and You have promised this good thing to Your servant. Now therefore, may it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O Lord God, have spoken; and with Your blessing may the house of Your servant be blessed forever. 2 Samuel 7:28-20-29
True = that which agrees with the facts. Truth = that which agrees with final reality! David wrote this declaration about God and requested His continued blessing upon his household. After the Ark of the Covenant had been joyously returned to Jerusalem, David realized that God was with Him through all the battles and trials and so he declares that God’s words are truth. I love those words – translated in the King James Bible as “Thy Word is Truth” – verbum veritas in Latin. God keeps His Word and promises. For those who follow Him, blessings accompany their lives.
Have I come to this wonderful place of faith and trust in God – wherein I say “Your words are truth? Yes, I have.
God, thank you for keeping Your promises. Jesus, You really are the way, the truth and the life. I pray I can help others come to that relationship with You today. Please show Your mighty power today in many ways.
