The Worship Exemption

LevitesTake a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, every male, head by head from twenty years old and upward, whoever is able to go out to war in Israel, you and Aaron shall number them by their armies. Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, nor shall you take their census among the sons of Israel. Number 1:2-3, 49

The priority of worship was illustrated by the exemption of the Levite tribe from being numbered as part of the army of Israel. God wants us to rely first and foremost upon Him as we face the battles of life. While some may think God is ‘playing favorites’ by exempting the Levitical priesthood, in actuality, He is demonstrating that everyone can trust Him to give them victory.

Is worshiping God a high priority in my life? Am I living life from one victory to another?

God, You are worthy. And so, I give You my worship. Thank you for leading me from victory to victory as You enter into the battles of life with me. Today, I pray that Your power will be made evident in me and around me for Your glory.
