scarlet threadSo Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a redeemer today, and may his name become famous in Israel. Ruth 4:13-14

Perhaps the most famous name in all the world is Jesus. That’s fitting because He is the Savior of the world. Ruth is an amazing story of redemption. Boaz redeems Ruth who conceives Obed who was the father of Jesse, the father of King David. From David, the scarlet thread of redemption would wind forward ultimately connecting to The Messiah – Jesus. Boaz is a type of Christ who exemplifies sacrificial grace and love. If only all of Israel realized the name of their redeemer – Yeshua = Jesus. Many missed it and miss it today.

How has the scarlet thread of redemption woven into my life? Do I realize that God redeemed me and that I am part of His redemptive work in the world? I surely do.

God, I wonder what You have planned today. Please help me see who You are redeeming and calling to Yourself. May I be one available and skilled to weave Your scarlet thread of redemption into the lives of others.
