God said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.” Genesis 9:12-15
God gave us a physical reminder of His love. The rainbow was a reminder to Him and us that He would not flood the earth again and destroy all flesh as He did in the great flood of Noah’s time. That doesn’t mean that God will not judge the earth at its proper time. But for now, we live under the covenant made with Noah. God would make several covenant with man. The greatest covenant is found in Jesus. Anyone who comes to Him and receives Him, to them God gives the right to be called children of God.
How am I appropriating the grace covenant of God in my life? Am I still trying to earn salvation, or have I received Jesus as my Savior and Lord?
God, what a reminder today of Your holiness and power combines with love and grace. I pray that we can accomplish some wonderful eternal purposes today. Thank you for meeting the greatest needs I have in life and surrounding me with a wonderful family and friends.
