You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of the just. Exodus 2#:8
Moses included in his law a discussion about the danger of bribes. They can blind the recipient and cause his to be partial and subvert justice. Some cultures allow for it, but God warns against it. I am glad that in general American society repudiates bribery and corruption.
How about me? Again, I am doing introspection about my life. Is there any areas where I accept bribes? Have I subverted the cause of the just? I don’t think so.
God, your precepts and statutes are wonderful and holy. You have given us, by Your law, the example of Jesus, and our own conscience, a clear-sighted understanding of what is good and right. Thank You! Now, by the power of the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit, lead me today.
