Judah said to his father Israel, “Send the lad with me and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, we as well as you and our little ones. I myself will be surety for him; you may hold me responsible for him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame before you forever. For if we had not delayed, surely by now we could have returned twice.” Genesis 43:8-10
Judah is a forerunner of Christ who would make Himself surety for us. The Bible says He is our propitiation. I taught my kids at a young age the doctrine of vicarious atonement. They simply understood “Jesus died for me”. Judah was willing to put his life in the place of Benjamin to please his father. In the same way, Jesus did that for us with His heavenly Father.
Have I accepted what Jesus has done for me? Yes. Am I now willing to put my life in the pace of others?
