Steps Bathed In Butter

butterOh that I were as in months gone by, as in the days when God watched over me;
When His lamp shone over my head, and by His light I walked through darkness;
As I was in the prime of my days, when the friendship of God was over my tent;
When the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me;
When my steps were bathed in butter, and the rock poured out for me streams of oil!
When I went out to the gate of the city, when I took my seat in the square.

There was a time when Job felt like God blessed his life is so many ways that he said “his steps were bathed in butter”. That’s funny, but awesome. There are seasons when we really know God is pouring out His favor and love upon us and the blessings are way beyond what we can do. In times of suffering, its good to remember those times. Job did.

Have I experienced seasons like this in my life? Yes. And I feel like one of those is about to begin again.

Lord, as long as I am with You… it really doesn’t matter if life is hard and a struggle or steps bathed in butter. I prefer the latter. Let’s walk together.
