Spiritual Procrastination

procrastination resizedThen the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled themselves at Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there; and the land was subdued before them. There remained among the sons of Israel seven tribes who had not divided their inheritance. So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? Joshua 18:1-3

While some of the tribes of Israel had taken possession of their land, seven still had not. The ones that did were already enjoying the benefits. Joshua asks the others “How long will you put off entering to take possession”? The same question can be asked of every person. Often we wait to take possession of the good things God has for us: grace, forgiveness, purpose, love, restoration with Him and others, joy, etc. Fear, confusion, enslavement to sin, lack of faith, past hurt,… these all are factors in our life. They were for the tribes of Israel too. But God says “enter in and take possession”. It is fascinating that when the met with God in the tent of meeting, it became clear what was needed in their lives.

Is there anything in my life that is preventing me from receiving the “promised land” that God has for me? Am I spiritually procrastinating because I lack faith?

God, as I start this day, help me do what You desire first. I trust that what You want will be best. I am choosing to enter in and possess the land.
