Skin Deep

As for the leper who has the infection, his clothes shall be torn, and the hair of his head shall be uncovered, and he shall cover his mustache and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection; he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp. Leviticus 13:45-46

The Bible gives very detailed descriptions for how the priest shall inspect the bodies of people with leprosy. The implications of finding leprosy or even the hint of it were severe. It could lead to a person being put outside the camp or city. Leprosy is a metaphor for sin.

How diligent am I to look for sin in my life and take the proper time and effort to be cleansed of it? Do I return for re-examination to see if indeed sin has been removed from my life?

God, even as David said in the Psalms, ‘see if there be, any wicked way in me… and lead me in the way everlasting’. I want to be clean and I know the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses. Thank you Lord.
