Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3
The Christian life can be likened to running a race. God has marked out a plan and purpose for our lives. Its not a sprint, but more like a multifaceted steeple chase. Sometimes we can frustrate God and ourselves because sin is in our life which feels like a weight or entanglement that slows us down. But when we run… I mean really run, empowered by the Spirit of God, after a God honoring vision, with Jesus Christ and His purposes clearly in our sight its exhilarating!
Am I experiencing the joy of living for Jesus? You bet! I wake up every day with so much purpose and excitement about ministry and life I can barely contain it. How about sin… is there any sin that has entangled me or is slowing me down? I feel like I am free from any known sin.
Lord, thank you for the greatest life I could imagine. As David wrote in the Psalms “see if there be, any wicked way in me… and lead me in the way everlasting”. I am ready to run today!
