“Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.” “Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. “Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them. Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.” Luke 12:35-38
Jesus said something quite amazing to his disciples. He said that He, Himself would serve them. A master serving a slave, amazing! What was the pre-requisite? That they would be ready for His return. We used to play a game as kids… and when we were about to start we would yell “ready or not, here I come”. Jesus has already shouted… “ready or not, here I come”. So be ready!
How ready and alert am I? Am I fulfilling my calling and ministry? Or am I distracted by other things? I believe I am about what God has made for me to be and do.
Today Lord Jesus, would you find me ready and alert, awaiting your return by being faithful?!
