The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Revelation 1:1-3
My childhood friends and I used to play a game of “Hide and Seek” in our neighborhood. We ended our countdown with the words “Ready or Not, Here I Come”. The revealing of Jesus Christ (also known as ‘the apocalypse’) will be the final chapter in this part of human history. Ready or Not, people will be affected by His return and the consummation of the ages. The apostle John thought it could happen in his lifetime. I believe it could happen in my lifetime. The great promise is that those who anticipate His coming and take it to heart, will be blessed.
How ready am I for Jesus’ return? Am I living my life in such a way that shows I am anticipating His return?
God, help me be ever mindful of Your promises and the brevity of my life and the certainty of Jesus’ return. Even today, may my mind be on Your eternal purposes.
