Micah prophesied a message of destruction that no one wanted to hear. His warning from God included a stern condemnation of the idolatrous worship that had permeated from Samaria. The prophet chides them saying that they would prefer another clever lie over the truth of what was really going on. Prophets like Micah are all too rare.
How about me and my country? How much of ‘Samaria’s plague’ has spread to us? Are we compromising with the philosophy of greed, self-made worship, and idols? I think we have.
God, today I ask that You would forgive my sins and forgive our national transgressions. Instill in our leaders the wisdom and godly desires of Micah. Direct their attention to You and give them a hunger for Your Holy Word. Help us all see the truth and not crave plenty of beer and wine.
