jealousy Now it came about on the next day that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul, and he raved in the midst of the house, while David was playing the harp with his hand, as usual; and a spear was in Saul’s hand. Saul hurled the spear for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David escaped from his presence twice. 1 Samuel 18:10-11

Jealousy is an ugly sin that leads to death. For Saul, he literally wanted to kill David, his greatest ally and supporter. For us, jealousy can kill even our closest relationships. What is the antidote to jealousy? Contentment! Contentment comes from understanding our amazing calling and learning that this life is not all there is.

Is there anyone that I look upon with jealousy? How has God taught me to be content?

God, I do not want to be a spear thrower. Help me find my identity and satisfaction in You and Your calling for my life. Today, let’s accomplish some great things together… but moreover, let’s simply walk in conversation throughout the day.
