Me, A Priest?

OfferingsThis is that which is consecrated to Aaron and that which is consecrated to his sons from the offerings by fire to the Lord, in that day when he presented them to serve as priests to the Lord. These the Lord had commanded to be given them from the sons of Israel in the day that He anointed them. It is their due forever throughout their generations. Leviticus 7:35-36

The sin, guilt, peace and thanksgiving offerings are described by Moses. They make a way for God’s people to be right before God and with each other. Aaron and his sons are to act as priests facilitating all this activity. In doing so, God provides for them from the very holy acts they are performing. There is a wonderful inter-dependence between the people of God and the priests of God.

Today, God appoints every believer as a priest who serves before Him. As Christians, our mission is to facilitate the coming together of people and God. We help them make their way through their sin and guilt to find a place of peace and thanksgiving with God. Revelation 1:6 says “and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father”.

Who am I helping find their way to God? Is there anything they don’t know about how to come to Him?

God, thank you that You called me to be a priest in this sense (along with every other believer). Give me words and actions that would be so consistent with Jesus that those around me would take a step of reconciliation with You. May many put their faith and trust in Jesus this weekend.
