Come, let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us;
He has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.
After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.
Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. Hosea 6:1-3
The prophet Hosea encourages the people of God to return to Him. They have followed the spirit of a prostitute, compromising in idolatry, sensuality and worship of false gods. Before God’s judgment is enacted upon them, Hosea implores them to return, be revived, restored and to live in His presence. They are to acknowledge the Lord – appropriate Him back into their lives. And when they press on to do so… He will appear with refreshing like the spring rains. The same is true for us.
God, how do Your people get so far away and end up following false gods? Is there any compromise in my life right now? If so, please tear it out of my life and bind up my wounds.
Lord, I will press on to acknowledge You. Please come like the winter rains and spring rains and refresh me. As this day begins, I am anticipating that You will meet my deepest needs.
