Let Me Not Be Ashamed

Not AshamedTo You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in You I trust,
Do not let me be ashamed;
Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Psalm 25:1-3

I remember singing this Psalm as a chorus back in the 80’s. King David extols the goodness, compassion and gracious nature of God. He implores God to deal with his enemies for him. I love how David asks God to not let him be ashamed. Whenever we are responsible for great endeavors there is inherently the risk of failure. David puts his trust in God. Listen to what he says in verses 17-18: “The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses. Look upon my affliction and my trouble
and forgive all my sins.” This is the kind of person that God rescues, supports and gives success.

To whom do I lift up my soul? Where is my trust?

My trust is in You oh Lord. I realize more and more how much I need Your wisdom and direct intervention into the endeavors of my life and ministry. You indeed have been faithful to rescue me. Lord, there are a few risks, opportunities and situation that I want you to work out on my behalf. Let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me! I love you Lord Jesus.
