Judas Betrayed Jesus, not Peter

RoosterSimon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” But he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.” Luke 22:31-34

Satan had entered Judas and he betrayed Jesus in a conspiracy with the religious leaders. Peter was tempted and troubled by Satan, but Jesus’ prayer would be effective enough to draw Peter back in repentance from his denial. There is a world of difference. One man Jesus says “woe to you”… to the other “feed my sheep”. I love Peter’s boldness bordering on brashness. Where are those who would say today “I am ready to go both to prison and death”?

How about me, do I share the passion of Peter and the heart to defend my Lord and Savior? You bet!

God, while I know there is wisdom, I want You to know, I am all in. You know my weaknesses and You know my heart. Let my colors be true and my actions be clearly for You alone.
