“When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away. Matthew 27:57-60
Joseph was rich. Jesus said its harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, that it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. Joseph was a disciple of Jesus. Jesus died and his body was placed in Joseph’s tomb. What an illustration of how a disciple lives. I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live. Yet, not I but Christ who lives in me. And the life that I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Wow! How about me? Am I a disciple? Yes! And Jesus died in my place. So I will now live because of Him.
Lord, I know you died for me and you were raised three days later for my justification. I am in a right relationship with You because my sins were paid for by You. I thank you. You are my Lord and my Savior. May I carry out your will today. Open the eyes of my heart to see as You see.
