Where Can I Find Wisdom?

The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:
To know wisdom and instruction,
To discern the sayings of understanding,
To receive instruction in wise behavior, righteousness, justice and equity;
To give prudence to the naive,
To the youth knowledge and discretion,
A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,
To understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:1-7

Solomon possessed (literally), talent on loan from God in the form of wisdom. He had trouble following it. But, make no mistake, he saw the world through more than an earthly eye, he perceived God’s mind on many issues. He was a lifelong learner that loved instruction and wisdom (wisdom being the godly application of knowledge). And thank God, Solomon shared with us that wisdom in the Proverbs. The benefit of wisdom is right living, justice and equity (fairness). Oh, we need more of that in the world today. To respect (fear) the Lord is the first step toward knowledge. Many leap over that important foundation. James, the earthly brother of Jesus wrote “if any man lacks wisdom, ask of God, who gives it liberally”. Let’s ask Him often.

Do I fear God? What base of knowledge has God given me that I can give away to others? Who needs it most?

God, as this day begins, I look forward to being a blessing and accomplishing something of value for others. Lord, would you continue to sustain my mom? Please show your love and mercy to Janice and her family too. So much going on right now, I need your guidance, strength, and insight with finals coming up in school.
