Let’s Strive For Righteousness

Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a disgrace to any people.
The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts wisely,
But his anger is toward him who acts shamefully. Proverbs 14:34-35

In his comparison of evil and good, Solomon concludes that when the overall expression in a country is ‘righteousness’ versus ‘sin’, that country is exalted. It’s true as pastor John Macarthur says ‘the history of the world is the judgment of the world’- so far as it goes with nations. God is judging nations on the fly. I love how Solomon draws our attention to the difference one person can make who is righteous and acts wisely… that person can garner the king’s favor.

In what ways am I living wisely? Would I garner the favor of the King of Kings?

Master Jesus, King of my heart and the universe… as this day begins I want to walk wisely and be found faithful. Help me put evil far away and to fill my life with good and righteous thoughts, acts, and patterns. Would you help me reach out to heal the hurts of people in our church and to minister with power and compassion overflowing from Your throne.
