The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is safe.
A rich man’s wealth is his strong city,
And like a high wall in his own imagination.
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty,
But humility goes before honor. Proverbs 18:10-12
Only God can truly save from our sins. We may find a certain amount of security in wealth (and there is some). The problem is that we can begin to feel ‘self-sufficient’ and forget we are dependent upon a loving God who gives us even the ability to produce wealth. That’s why Solomon (the richest man who ever lived), pointed out that the name of the Lord is a strong tower- if we are righteous (living life God’s way), we will run to Him and find true security. The only real safe investment is to live one’s life for Christ’s sake and to receive in return His grace and forgiveness and fellowship.
Trust! Where does mine lay? Am I relying upon and acknowledging God’s hand in my life… His provision… and that He holds my life in His hand?
God, You are a strong tower. Your very name is power. Today, I rest in You. I will praise You for the wonderful works You are doing in my life. Thank you for the amazing provision. Bless my kids and those two cutie grandchildren today. Amen.
