How’s Your Prayer Life?

We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father, 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

One surprising comment by people surveyed who were not regular church goers… was “I thought that they would pray more”. Hmmm. How’s your prayer life? We know that God honors our prayers. Why He does, is a bit of a mystery. But, He does. God invites our prayers; Jesus modeled the importance of prayer; and arguably, prayer is an essential part of the normal Christian life. In this little letter, the apostle Paul will not only share his prayers, but remind us “pray without ceasing”. Paul was thankful for how the people in Thessalonica (a significant port city in the Greco/Roman empire) because they demonstrated faith, love and hope. We should pray for those God has entrusted in our circle of family and influence too.

How is my prayer life? Am I faithfully remembering to present before God the issues of life that are entrusted to me by friends? Am I listening and obeying God’s prompting and response to my prayers? How serious am I about prayer? Are my prayers more like that of a child… or as a faith filled mature believer?

God, I know You answer prayers with power and love and affection and wisdom. Today, I am reviewing my prayer list and seeking Your will and wisdom. I am available to respond as You lead and guide… to the needs of those in my life. Thank you that You listen and answer!
