God Bids us “fly!”… and Gives us Wings

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, says the Lord:
I will put My laws into their minds,
And I will write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.
“And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen,
And everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
For all will know Me,
From he least to the greatest of them.
1“For I will be merciful to their iniquities,
And I will remember their sins no more.”

When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear. Hebrews 8:10-13

All I have really ever known is to pray directly to God through His Son Jesus. I have grown up under the new covenant wherein direct and continual access to God is afforded me, though I am a sinner. That may be something we take for granted. Consider that while this was always God’s desire- many related to Him through a rigid keeping of the “the law”, performing sacrifices, feasts and rituals involving an earthly priest. We have access to the very mind of Christ who ever intercedes for us. Its as if before God bid us “fly!”… but we really could not. Now, by the indwelling Holy Spirit, he says “fly!” and gives us wiiiings!

Upon what am I relying to relate to God? My own performance, keeping of rituals or rules? Or is it a sweet relationship that is developing as I let the Spirit of God lead and guide, Jesus atone, and me… I walk in obedience, love and joy?

God, as this day begins- I want to fly for Your glory. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit. Forgive my iniquities. Flow through me with love. May the wedding ceremony be beautiful and uplifting to Jim and Kathi and their family. And may Nancy be encouraged with my visit too.

Jonathan Edwards resolution #13. Resolved, to be endeavoring to find out fit objects of charity and liberality.
