The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For by me your days will be multiplied, and years of life will be added to you.
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you alone will bear it. Proverbs 9:10-12
When we fear of the Lord and give Him the respect due his name, we place ourselves in a position to grow and learn. Humility is the posture of those who would gain wisdom. With it comes a longer life. We do not dread God, but honor Him and enter into a relationship with Him. But it begins with a proper understanding of who we are and who He is.
Do I have a wholesome fear of my Maker? How has this made my life better and longer?
God, what a joy to know You and to honor You. Please prepare me for this day. Would you give me favor and grace and wisdom to do the right things and to do them rightly.
