Bear Much Fruit

I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. John 15:5,8  NASB

I am growing fruit from a dwarf orange tree. In mid-January the fruit will ripen and be ready to be picked. Its the first crop even though the tree has been on my property for nearly 7 years. What happened was it was planted in the wrong place (on a hillside). Orange trees don’t grow well on hillsides. We all should get into the right place. Jesus says “abide” or live in Him. He is after all, in us, believers. Not all the flowers made it as little oranges… the wind blew many off the stem. But the six remaining (yes, I count them… and name them) have made it to the end. This tree has been replanted on level ground a year ago. What is obvious to everyone now is that the tree is an orange tree… it has proved it so, by its fruit. Herein lies a great lesson from Jesus, bear spiritual fruit and you will prove to be His disciple.

What is the fruit of my life? Am I rooted and grounded in Christ’s love? Does He dwell in my heart,… and I in Him?

God, as this day begins, may fruit be born out to Your glory!
