Accept Responsibility

Judah said to his father Israel, “Send the lad with me and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, we as well as you and our little ones.
I myself will be surety for him; you may hold me responsible for him.
If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame before you forever.
For if we had not delayed, surely by now we could have returned twice.” Genesis 43:8-10

To be an adult largely means we ‘accept responsibility’… its a sign of maturity. In a bold move, Judah persuades his father to allow him to take Benjamin to Egypt. In doing so, Judah places his own life as surety. He is a type of Christ in doing so. The life he will save will actually be his own and from his lineage will come the actual Christ.

Are there areas of my life where I blame others? How mature am I based on the responsibilities I have accepted?

God, thank you that whatever small responsibility I accept, I have You as the ultimate support. Help me be wise is what I choose and not to shrink back in fear from any challenge. Thank you as well for working in power and honoring the prayers prayed at the hospital this week.
