With the kind You show Yourself kind;
With the blameless You show Yourself blameless;
With the pure You show Yourself pure,
And with the crooked You show Yourself astute.

For You save an afflicted people,
But haughty eyes You abase.
For You light my lamp;
The Lord my God illumines my darkness.

For by You I can run upon a troop;
And by my God I can leap over a wall. Psalm 18:25-29

Have you ever felt like Superman? There are some moments when God has demonstrated His power and grace in my life that I feel like I can conquer any enemy and overcome every challenge. Of course, there are other moments when defeat comes or I am incapacitated by a common cold.

David relied often upon God’s character and his own willingness to seek God and exalt Him to align himself for victory. He saw God as the One who could “light my lamp in darkness”. Its true He can show us the way forward in all situations. God is kind, blameless, pure and astute. And when we want to be like Him in word, thought and deed- He makes us able to defeat an army and leap tall buildings!

God, from where does my confidence come?

Lord, as I begin this day- may others find me as You: kind, blameless, pure and astute. Since today is Keanu’s birthday, I thank you for this son of mine. Oh, so much to be proud of and to admire in him. Would you this year fulfill his goals of buying property and starting to build a house? Help him write songs of worship that bless Your heart and those of us who sing them. Give him opportunities to travel. And Oh, God, please prepare for him a virgin of Your choosing, equally matched in passion for godliness, filled with love for him to always cherish as a gift and sign of Your great love. Amen.
